I am Alexandra, and I love teaching art!

I am a mom of two growing girls, wife to Ben ( a Needham Public school teacher) and I have the best job there is....I am an art teacher! I studied Fine Arts and Education at Brandeis University, and I also earned my Masters degree with a focus on Arts integration in Literacy and Math. I have been teaching in the Newton Public Schools for 18 years at Memorial Spaulding Elementary School, where I teach drawing, painting, collage, building, ceramics, multi-media experiences, art history, photography, and more to my amazing students who I love. I also have worked in museums such as the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, The Kniznick Gallery, and The Rose Art Museum and Oak Hill Middle School to name a few.  I was recently honored by theMassachusetts Art Education Association as the Art Teacher of the Year in 2019.   I also have been honored as a Distinguished Arts Advocate and Champion for the Arts by ArtsLearning and was awarded the Lynn S. Feldman Award this fall.  Additionally, I serve as an adjunct professor in the graduate program for Elementary Education at Brandeis University.

Art education has always been my passion!

Back when my daughter was in kindergarten, I was looking for a local art class for her and her friends, where each child could experience a program like the one I provide for my own students and I was stumped. I wanted to find a class that created a space where children could be creative, messy and explore, all while being challenged to do their very best work in a safe environment to make mistakes and thrive. Art 4 Your Child was born in January 2017 as a place for your child can experience their very best work, experience pride and boost confidence, all while learning about art strategies, art education and about themselves! It is the highlight of my week- join us!
